The Nikon Coolpix P900 is not just a camera, it’s a telescope too! That’s right, the zoom on this camera is so powerful, it even allows you to zoom in on the moon – pretty incredible right?!
When the release of this camera was first announced back in March, it seemed like a pretty average piece of kit and nothing to get too excited about. But hidden amongst its many product specifications was the fact that the camera has an 83x optical zoom!

A video of this impressive feat – which you can see below- took the internet by storm last week and left many thinking that their eyes were merely playing ticks on them. Whilst the image isn’t exactly what you would call sharp, the lunar surface can still be clearly seen in remarkable detail.
Obviously, many were quick to point out that the moon isn’t actually moving in the video and that what the camera actually captures is the earth’s rotation. But that said, this is still an undeniably impressive demonstration of this cameras powerful abilities.
Given that the moon is approximately 283,900 miles away, just imagine what else you could shoot with this camera – the possibilities are infinite!
The Sky Is No Longer The Limit
A variety of other jaw dropping videos of the cameras abilities have also appeared in recent weeks and these really are no less extraordinary.
But arguably, more impressive still, is the cameras relatively modest price tag, after all, around £500 is not that much to pay for a camera that doubles as a telescope! But you might want to get your skates on, as thanks to its internet fame, this camera is likely to be selling like hot cakes.
